During my visit to Ashland, I was searching for the perfect cozy restaurant to take my newlywed friends to, and I couldn’t have made a better choice than Cocorico. I initially made a mistake with my reservation, booking a table for two instead of three. Just 10 minutes before our scheduled time, I realized the error and informed the restaurant. Despite being fully booked for the evening, they went above and beyond to accommodate us, which was just the beginning of an extraordinary experience. I work in the luxury hospitality industry, opening five-star hotels for a living, and I have dined at countless top-rated restaurants worldwide. Yet, this meal at Cocorico was truly one of the best I’ve ever had—not just because of the outstanding food, but also because of the warmth and passion of the people running this place. We started with warm olives, gently heated in olive oil, garlic, and fresh lemon—such a simple yet elegant and unique dish. Next came clams and shrimp with orzo and fresh tomatoes, perfectly balanced in flavor and cooked to perfection. The deviled eggs, which I never imagined could be elevated to such a refined dish, were absolutely delightful—flawlessly creamy and well-seasoned. For the main course, we indulged in: Duck pasta – A masterpiece with homemade pasta cooked to perfection, topped with fresh greens that added a refreshing contrast to the rich, juicy duck, packed with deep, savory flavors. Lamb shank – A showstopper. Huge, beautifully presented, and braised to perfection, the meat fell right off the bone and melted in my mouth. The fermented lemon skin added a bright and unexpected twist, while the mashed potatoes were luxuriously creamy. Trout with goat cheese and grape leaf – The highlight of the night! This dish was not only visually stunning but also an explosion of flavors. The crispy grape leaf wrapping added a beautiful texture, while the creamy, fresh goat cheese inside perfectly complemented the tender, juicy trout. Served with rice and pickled cauliflower, this dish was simply out of this world. Dessert was just as spectacular: Tiramisu – So incredibly creamy and well-balanced in sweetness that we had to order a second one! Creme brulee – Perfectly caramelized on top, with a silky, delicate custard underneath—absolutely divine. Beyond the incredible food, the hospitality at Cocorico is what truly sets it apart. The manager was incredibly knowledgeable, providing excellent recommendations. Grace, our host, was an absolute gem—so warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about ensuring a memorable experience. And her husband, Ned, is nothing short of a culinary genius, crafting the best meal I’ve had in a long time. Cocorico is not just a restaurant; it’s an experience. If you are in Ashland, don’t think twice—this is a must-visit!

What a great place! The food was outstanding - fresh, inventive and clearly housemate pasta! The cocktail was delicious. The hospitality was as special as the food. I was a table for one, but they were as welcoming as possible. It truly seemed that the hostess was welcoming me to her own home. She offered me the choice of tables and sent the waiter right over to take my drink order. Every person I interacted with was friendly and seemed glad I was there. I can't wait to return.

Absolutely blown away by this restaurant. The chef is from France and culinary school trained in France. The dishes exceeded my expectations. Duck confit was fall off the bone delicious as it should be. My husband was estatic about his bone in ribeye. The mousse tasted just like the chocolate m ousse I had in France last summer. I would like to think this would be a place that Anthony Bourdain would rave about. I will definitely return and try other dishes but ill be daydreaming about the duck confit for a while. Cocktails were great, too.

Finally made my way here and did not regret it! The flavors are so good, the atmosphere is dim and fancy but with a casual flair, the service was top notch with high attention to detail. I got the mushroom Bolognese which I felt was packed with flavor. The others at my table got the fish specials which were cooked to perfection. Their cocktails are complex and satisfying. This is the perfect date spot or place to celebrate or simply just treat yourself.

Cocorico is considered, by many of my friends and family, the all time best restaurant in ashland. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is charming yet sophisticated, the staff is beyond friendly, and whether you are indoors or on the outdoor patio, the small space doesn’t get too loud for conversation. The drink menu offers something for everyone- marionberry lemon drop is amazing. Appetizers the deviled eggs are top notch. Main course would have to be the chicken. Best chicken I’ve ever tasted. Flavors of each dish are crafted to perfection. Absolutely divine! Cocorico number 1!

We love Cocorico! We’ve been going there since the day it opened, and even before that when it was at the Green Springs Lodge. The service here is fantastic. The food always creative and tasteful — excellent all around! You'll need a reservation. The place is hoppin'!

Wanted to try this new restaurant. It didn't disappoint. I ordered the flat iron steak my friend ordered the ribeye. It was really well cooked and seasoned nicely. The cocktail menu including wine and other drinks was well rounded. The dessert menu looked really spectacular as well, but we were too full to order dessert. They had two appetizer specials and two dinner specials that also sounded lovely. Keep in mind that they don't have the ability to contact them by a phone so you'll want to send an email to see if you can get a reservation, they're online booking said they didn't have a table at the time we wanted but we were able to get a table through email and their response time was very quick. This restaurant has a really intimate atmosphere, although the section we were sitting in was very bright and cheerful. It's a pretty tight space so reservations are definitely recommended.

My boyfriend Chris and I recently ate at this amazing restaurant!!!! the atmosphere, chef, staff are all so happy and personable and make it such a wonderful experience! I had been once before and same review as this. we had duck and lamb shank and shared. I am international traveled, and French is a real thing in Ashland with this chef! treat yourself to a dining experience you will not forget. ask to be seated in enclosed patio!
